He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
