He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
