He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
