He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
