He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
