He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe of God 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
