The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
