He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And produce therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
