He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 So you are after him! 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
