The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
