The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 that hide, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
