The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
