The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
