The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
