The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
