The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
