The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
