The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
