The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 On a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 a written record, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
