The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
