The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
