The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
