The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
