The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Not at all but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
