The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a fateful Day. 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
