The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
