The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
