The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
