The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
