The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
