The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
