The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
