The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
