The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
