The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
