The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
