The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
