The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
