The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
