The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
