The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
