The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens with constellations, 1 by the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 destroyed were the people of the trench, 4 by a burning fire 5 When they sat by it, 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! 8 Him, Whose is the dominion of heavens and the earth. And Allah is over everything a Witness. 9 Verily those who affected the believing men and the believing women, and then repented not, theirs shall be the torment of Hell, and theirs shall be the torment of burning. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 16 Has not there come to you the story of the hosts, 17 Of Pharaoh and Thamud come to you? 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 And Allah encompasses them from behind! (i.e. all their deeds are within His Knowledge, and He will requite them for their deeds). 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Koran, 21 On a guarded tablet. 22
