The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
