The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
