The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
