The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
