The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
