The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
