The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
