The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The piercing star! 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and so am I: 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
